Life Tools Movement, LTM (originally Life Tools Ministries) is a non-profit organization, founded by Evette Rawls in 2003.
LTM is dedicated to creating curriculums, tools, and resources for parents, educators, youth groups, and educational institutions.
LTM targets specific areas of concerns, creating strategies that everyone can use effectively.
LTM promotes academic advancement through a variety of programs and offers assistance in Reading, Math, English and College Readiness.
LTM is a vehicle to help individuals discover and understand their true identity with self- love and self-confidence.
LTM is geared toward children and teens 6-18 years old who come from single-parent homes. It provides them with a positive role model who can impart wisdom and teach them the practical life skills that will enable them to succeed.
LTM Resources
LTM will continue making a profound difference in the lives of single parents and their families in the years to come. Unfortunately, 1 in 4 children in the US are growing up in a single parent home. Single parents have much higher likelihood to live in poverty, as they face incredible work/life balance issues. Single Parent Families have unique needs and issues constantly affecting their inability to overcome ruin. The emotional and financial toll on most of these families is actually helping to create an even younger population of single parents who are just children themselves.
LTM will work diligently to breaking this cycle and to help create and build resources for families that help them to become more productive, more resourceful and more informed on how to be the best parent they can be for their children.
Parenting Tools
LTM offers several resources for single parents and their children.
Accepting the role as a single parent comes with tough issues and life-changing decisions. In "The Single Parent’s Guide" (also, available for Teens), author Evette Rawls, applies timeless strategies and principles that provide a guide to help improve self-image, build relationships, achieve goals and much more. "The Single Parent’s Guide" is a practical guide that helps develop effective relationships and structure for you and your child. "The Single Parent’s Guide" will help establish peace and order in your everyday routine while creating long term goals for you and your child in every area of your life.
"Ladies Who Brunch of the Sandhills"
"Ladies Who Brunch of the Sandhills" is a designed for women in the surrounding areas to come together and fellowship. Evette Rawls created this brunch club as a way for women to be encouraged, empower, and inspired... What is a brunch club? Well, I'm glad you asked. A brunch club is when a group of 20 to 30 something young ladies all get together to eat, visit, drink, and chat in a non threatening environment.
The rules for brunch club are simple. It will never start before noon, everyone bring a dish with recipe to share, and that everyone comes with a positive attitude... Reminder: this is a kid- friendly event!!! We will host 4 brunches a year (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer events)
Academic Achievement Program (AAP)
LTM's Academic Achievement Program (AAP) enhances the academic and leadership potential of Black, Latino, and Native American students. Every year highly motivated students are invited to participate. To make the education experience more personal, each new AAP student is matched with an upperclass student adviser who has related goals and interests. AAP offers individual and small-group tutoring for most courses at no cost, and students are invited to participate in group discussions. Additionally, the program promotes the appreciation of ethnic diversity and the development of leadership skills. To apply for the program you must provide a personal statement demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence, to success in school, and to involvement in the program and the community. LTM hosts this program every year in April in various locations.
In 2017, LTM will presented "Educational Strategy Guide: Reading Comprehension" for educators, parents, and students. There will be three different version designed for the each specific audience. The "Education Strategies for Parents" will be a resource for parents and educators to help children achieve academically with reading comprehension.
Evette created "When Reading H.A.P.P.E.N.S. I Can Comprehend" as a simply designed reading strategies for students on all grade levels for reading comprehension. Initially, most comprehension teaching strategies were based on imparting selected techniques that when taken together would allow students to be strategic readers. However, in 40 years of testing these methods there never seemed to win support in empirical research. Evette has designed a tool with specific steps in helping students achieve when reading and understanding how to comprehend text as they read.
